The president’s wife frankly answered the question if there are days when she just wants to lie down and do nothing.
The First Lady of Ukraine visited Germany, where she presented several projects at the Frankfurt Book Fair, in particular, the Handbook of Accessibility, and gave a long interview to the German women’s publication Brigitte. The wife of the Ukrainian president admitted that she was distracted by the war.
“Of course, it’s hard to leave a country at war. I feel confident. It’s great to feel the support of the people here. It’s very important for us. It inspires us to come back and continue the fight,” said the first woman.
Zelenskaya also added that she sees every trip abroad as a kind of mission. By the way, his mission in Frankfurt was to draw attention to Ukrainian books and Ukrainian literature.
Zelenskaya, among other things, noted that it is important for Ukraine to rebuild and recover.
“All the buildings that are being built today must be built in accordance with the additional requirements of all standards without barriers. So I hope that the destroyed schools will not be restored without ramps and convenient doors for people in wheelchairs, no bomb shelters, because now it’s a new standard for our construction,” he said.
When asked if she has days when she just wants to lie down and do nothing, Zelenskaya answered honestly.
“When there are days like this when I want to lie down and not get up, I lie down and don’t get up. That means I don’t have the strength anymore. I don’t consider myself a strong woman. Maybe, there are things that happen to you ,” open up several possibilities. Sometimes even the ones you can’t open. I cannot clearly answer this question. I am not only the wife of the President of Ukraine, I am also the son of my parents, for whom I worry, care and worry about me. I am the mother of my children, which I am also worried about. Today there was an air raid on Kyiv for half a day (the interview was recorded on October 22 – Ed.), and, frankly, when you are here and the children are there, you do not see whether they went to the bomb shelter or did not leave, it does not affect your well-being in a very good way. We are all now in Ukraine in the same state – we are trying to hold on. For life, for the constant change and collapse of plans and dreams, because you can’t plan more than two days. But I am very inspired by our people. There are so many touching stories of helping each other, and when it’s difficult and emotional for you to tune in to work, you just have to read one more story of care, love, and it always helps,” concludes said Zelenskaya.
