The social network positions itself as an alternative to Twitter, “a platform for freedom of speech.” He is popular among Trump supporters.
American musician and entrepreneur Kanye West has acquired the American social network Parler. This was reported by The Verge.
The deal to buy the social network is expected to be closed before the end of 2022, the amount of which was not disclosed.
“In a world where conservative views are considered controversial, we must ensure that we have the right to freedom of expression,” the musician said.
Representatives from Parlement Technologies, Parler’s parent company, said the deal will help build “an ecosystem that cannot be canceled and where all opinions are welcome.”
It is popular with supporters of former US President Donald Trump and right-wing conservative audiences in general.
The app hit the top spot in the App Store after Twitter suspended Trump’s account. After Trump supporters attacked the Congressional Building in Washington in January 2021, Parler was removed from the App Store and Google Play. However, the social network returned to Apple stores six months later.
It will be remembered that the rapper has been married to socialite Kim Kardashian for seven years. The news of their divorce came out at the end of February 2021
