In early April, Izyum was temporarily occupied by the Russian Federation, and on September 10, it was liberated from the invaders by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Okean Elzy group frontman Svyatoslav Vakarchuk arrived with a concert in de-occupied Izyum, Kharkiv region. He announced this on his Facebook page.

“A tortured, cruel, but free city. And the people – tired, concentrated, but with such hope in their eyes! People who really need all the support, and it’s not just about direct humanitarian aid, which is very important, but also a warm word, a smile, just attention,” he said.

At the same time, the artist added that the residents of the city approached him and asked him to sing together the legendary song of Chervona Ruta.

“Hear how Izyum sings ‘Chervona Rutu’.” And that’s why these racists decided that they can conquer our people?”, – summed up the performer.

Earlier it was reported that Svyatoslav Vakarchuk, together with former Estonian President Kersti Kaljulaid, ran around Tallinn in support of Ukraine.
