A breakthrough for Pixel 10 did not manifest itself properly compared to a competitor even two years ago at maximum loading, but was able to win at least one of the four categories.
Google introduces the new Tensor G5 chip for the new generation of the Pixel Smartphone series. The transition to the TSMC’s manufacture and the new architecture has pledged a significant increase in performance, however, according to Gizmochina, the first trials show the advantage of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Chip, released in 2023.
According to Antutu results, Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 showed 44% the best results in the operation of the middle processor, and when the graphic processor was used, the advantage increased to 66%. Usually, Qualcomm’s old flagship preceded Google by 55%. Even with the memory and user experience tests, the Qualcomm chip is noticeably stronger. The Tensor G5, despite the development, has not yet captured the opponent of “raw” power.
However, the situation is completely different from Geekbench tests. There, the Tensor G5 managed to get around Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 in performance per core, even with a minimum margin of 3.6%. However, in multi -core calculations, the advantage remained for the Snapdragon, where it was better by 9.5%.
Despite all the improvements, the position of Google Tensor G5 as a breakthrough for Pixel, but the comparison with Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 shows that this is just a success compared to the previous Pixel generation. The current flagship of Snapdragon 8 wins all categories with a larger margin, and soon smartphones with the new Elite 2 chip will be made. The first of them was the Xiaomi 16 and 16 pro, expected in the fall.
Remember, 10 generations of pixel smartphones were shown a week ago.
