Ukrainian artist Melovin explained why he gave Tommy Cash’s highest rating – the performer from Estonia, accused of relations with the Russian Federation.
Ukrainian singer Melovin is under the blade after the Eurovision -2025 Finals, which, as a member of the national jury, has set 12 points in Estonia’s representative -Tommy Cash.
The cause of anger is that the contest is associated with Russia, especially because of its origin and its manufacturers.
In the first time commenting on the situation at Lux FM, Melovin denied charges of violating competition policies. According to him, he has the right to publish his assessments, due to the “suspension” contract – a broadcaster responsible for the participation of Ukraine – there is no ban on the disclosure of points.
“I was allowed to lay out points. I was given permission to publish a leaflet -this is one of the points in my contract with the suspension I can announce. No prohibition, so no one will fly me,” said the singer. Said the actress.
As for Tommy Cash itself, Melovin insisted: The performer was not pro -russian, despite strong accusations. He noted that the SBU had not confirmed the artist’s illegal entry into Crimea in 2021. In addition, Melovin drew the content of Tommy Cash’s criticized song, which, according to him, we did not talk about a pro -russian position, but about selection and political ambiguity.
The performer also added that Tommy Cash has the roots of Ukrainian, Estonian and Russian, but his identity as an actor is Estonian, and this is what he considers when he votes.
Despite the explanations, discussions on social networks have not weakened – some of the Ukrainians believe that even a hint in contact with the Russian Federation should be a sufficient basis for zero assessments. Others are emphasized: the song should be evaluated, not the biography of the performer.
Earlier it was reported that Estonian singer Tommy Cash, who would show his country at Eurovision 2025 along with the song “Espresso Macchiato”, violated the silence of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
