The 71-year-old director died in early May at his home in Los Angeles. Fowley’s representative said the director died “peaceful in a dream.” According to preliminary information, the cause of death may be a long struggle against brain cancer, but the final conclusion has not been declared.
James Fouey was born on December 28, 1953 in Brooklyn, but eventually with his family he moved to Statien Island. He initially planned to be a doctor, who received a psychology education at Buffalo University, but then he became interested in a movie theater. His debut as a director took place in 1984 with the movie “Reckless”.
Among Fowley’s other significant projects are the thriller “American” (1992), the psychological thriller “fear” (1996) with Mark Walberg and Reese Witherspoon, the criminal drama “Corruption” (1999) and “The Perfect Stranger” (2007) with Holly Berry and Bruce Willis.
He reached the most popular thanks to two parts of the popular fifty franchise – Fifty Shades of Darkness (2017) and Fifty Shades of Liberty (2018). He also joined the creation of the “Billion -Billion”, “Hannibal” series and the legendary twin Pix.
In addition to directing movies, Fowley shot music clips for Madonna, specifically live to say, Papa Donmet preacher and real blue, using pseudonym Peter Percher.
