Samsung has officially launched sales of a new 32-inch color e-paper EMDX display. The device is designed mainly for use in the field of digital signs – in stores, restaurants, public transportation and other public spaces.
The display received the E-ink Specta 6 panel with a resolution of 2560 × 1440 picsels (WQHD), allowing you to display up to 54 thousand colors thanks to deserring algorithms. The viewing angle is 178 degrees horizontally and vertically. Inside the device, 8 GB of built-in memory is installed, and Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.0 modules are responsible for communication. For wired connection, USB-C is used, which also serves as port for billing or ethernet adapter. The battery for 4600 MAH provides up to 200 working days on a charge, provided that the image is updated once a day. All of these are contained in a case measuring 725 × 420 × 17 mm and weighing 2.4 kg. The display also supports the Vesa 200 × 200 mm standard mount.
The device operates the Tizen 8.0 operating system. To control the content, Samsung offers an e-paper application of the mobile app, where you can update the content, create graphs and configure playlists with some intervals. For large-scale corporate management devices, the company offers its own cloud CMS platform VXT, which allows you to create, view and initial review the content before its display on the screens.
In addition, the new E-Papel platform allows you to combine displays with third-party control systems through the Tizen Enterprise platform. Thanks to this, businesses can easily configure, update and maintain large display networks without spending excess sources.
The EMDX has already been sold in the markets of some countries, where its cost is estimated to be about $ 1400.
