The Oscar winner created a book about Ukrainian defenders, illustrated with his own drawings.
The famous French film director, screenwriter and actor Michel Azanavicius announced the release of a book dedicated to the war in Ukraine and its heroes. He spoke about it in a comment for UP. Culture.
Last year, the filmmaker visited the front line in Ukraine, where he collected material for a future book. It is illustrated with his own drawings, as the director has been interested in art since he was 10 years old.
The book will be seen in France in February, and then it will be shown in Ukraine. All proceeds from the sale of the publication will go to support Ukrainians.
In addition to the literary project, Azanavicius finished work on an animated film about World War II, which is scheduled to be released in Ukraine on January 30.
The French director has been an active supporter of Ukraine since the beginning of the Russian invasion. He repeatedly went to the country, visited Irpen, Kovel, where his grandmother was born, and also visited the front line. In the summer of 2023, Azanavicius organized a charity auction, where he raised 125 thousand euros for the restoration of the hospital in Izyum. He also took part in the restoration of damaged houses in Irpen.
“Every Ukrainian is a hero and deserves to have a book written or a film made about him,” the director stressed.
It was previously reported that Stephen Fry addressed the world with a reminder of the war in Ukraine.
