The billionaire will join Twitter’s Board of Directors. He is currently a board member.
American billionaire Elon Musk bought shares of Twitter Inc. for $ 2.64 billion. This information is contained in documentation filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on April 5, CNBC reports.
It was noted that the billionaire submitted the document in form 13D, which means that the investor wants to take an active part in the work of the company. A day earlier, Musk filed a form 13G, which includes the registration of a passive stake in the company.
“This means the investor does not want to exercise control,” the report said.
It is also known that as of April 5, Musk owned 73.115 million shares on Twitter, or 9.1%. At the close of trading on Tuesday, shares of Twitter were worth $ 3.73 billion.
In addition, the publication wrote that Musk began buying shares from the end of January and made transactions almost daily. The biggest deal was made on Feb. 7 – the purchase of 4.8 million shares worth $ 176 million.
Musk is reported to be joining Twitter’s board of directors. Right now, he is a board member, and his share in the company cannot exceed 14.9%.
Note that Musk said last week in his account on the company’s platform that “he is not satisfied with this social network’s approach to freedom of speech, and he is seriously considering creating a new platform.”
Recall that on March 1 of this year, Elon Musk’s Starlink Internet began working in Ukraine.
