Ukrainian singer Anastasia Prikhodko expressed criticism of the international Eurovision song contest, saying that Ukraine’s participation in it is not yet appropriate.
In an interview with Natalia Vlashchenko, the artist noted that, as a representative of the cultural sphere, she supports the importance of the participation of Ukrainians in such events. According to him, it contributes to the development of culture and allows us to remind again about Ukraine in the international arena. However, he emphasized that in the conditions of an all-out war, Eurovision has lost its relevance.
“I, as a person from the field of culture, must say: “Yes, of course, this is the development of our culture.” the word at all,” said Prikhodko.
The performer was convinced that during the war it was inappropriate to spend large funds from the state budget on preparations for the competition. He believes that these resources can be used to help displaced people or other important needs of the country.
“This just once again helps our artists to at least somehow not stand still. This is some kind of development. This is an emotion on which artists depend. This is rivalry, which everyone now lacks. It happened. But if we talk about about war, so I’m against it because the money that is allocated from the budget of our country… I would use this money to help the displaced,” she added.
Earlier it was reported that Suspilne Movlennya received 369 applications from 304 Ukrainian performers and groups to participate in the Eurovision 2025 national selection.
