During his acceptance speech, Consani expressed her excitement at becoming the first trans woman to be awarded this distinction. She highlighted the importance of the pioneers who paved the way for its achievement. “I am the first trans woman to win this award,” she declared. “But I can’t accept this award without thanking those who came before me, specifically the trans women of color who really fought for the space I’m in today: Dominique Jackson, Connie Fleming, Aaron Rose Phillips and countless others who fought for the space that allowed me to flourish today.”

Her career in fashion began at the age of 12, when she made history by becoming the youngest trans model hired by an agency.
