In honor of their 20th wedding anniversary, Spain’s royal couple, Letizia and Philip VI, have released new official photos created by legendary photographer Annie Leibovitz.
Spanish monarchs Queen Letizia and King Philip VI celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary this year. For the anniversary, they decided to update the official photos, entrusting this noble mission to the world famous photographer Annie Leibovitz.
The photo shoot took place in February at the Royal Palace in Madrid. In one of the photos, Queen Letizia poses in a vintage Balenciaga dress from 1948, adorned with jewelry that belonged to King Philip’s great-grandmother, Queen Victoria. King Philip is depicted in military uniform with medals and the blue ribbon of Spain’s highest civil order.
A special feature of the portraits is their design: when placed side by side, they are combined into a complete scene, symbolizing the union of royal spouses.
The exhibition of photos takes place at the National Bank in Madrid, where everyone can see the exquisite craftsmanship and elegance of the Spanish monarchs.
This photo shoot became not only part of the anniversary celebration, but another element of the public image of the modern royal family, skillfully combining tradition and modernity.
