In its second edition, the free festival takes place in December at Galeria Olido, in São Paulo, with shows, lectures and more by LGBTQIAPN+ artists
Transforma Música is back for its second edition, on the 13th, 14th and 15th of December, at Galeria Olido, in São Paulo.
The festival, curated by Ali Prando and Leon Franzcelebrates Brazilian queer music, highlighting its multiple forms of queerness and subversion. The program, completely free, includes lectures with important figures in the music market, presentations that mix electronics, experimentalism and post-punk, and a showcase of national queer music videos.
Ali Prandophilosopher and curator of the event, explains that the festival understands the term “queer” as something insubordinate and disruptive:
Transforma Música understands queer as insubordinate and disruptive, works of art and behaviors that disrupt the social order and established values. Queer as the subjects who imagine and demand what seems revolutionary and impossible, precisely because the impossible is what is owed to us”, he says There.
For him, Transforma Música goes beyond a festival, functioning as a platform to re-discuss the Brazilian music market from the perspective of LGBTQIAPN+ artists.
Leon Franzco-curator of the event, reinforces this idea, highlighting the importance of valuing not only the narratives, but also the aesthetic strength of the queer community.
This project appears as an act of insurgency because it values not only the narratives, but the aesthetic strength of the queer community. They are different ways of feeling and seeing the world that are expressed in powerful and transgressive artistic creations, creating escape routes beyond normativity”, says Leon.
