American rock band Metallica shared the story of a Ukrainian military man who performed their legendary song Nothing Else Matters on a bandura. The musicians published a touching video on their social networks.
Before the full Russian invasion, Taras Stolyar was a member of the Ukrainian group ONUKA. However, at the outbreak of war, he joined the ranks of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Currently, the military man is part of the Cultural Landing, a musical unit of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which unites seven artists who became defenders of the Motherland.
As part of the US charity tour, Taras, together with other musicians, played 170 concerts.
“We recently found out about the Cultural landingcultural division of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. with Cultural landing with seven world-class artists who were professional musicians before the war and are now soldiers. The band just finished a 170-date US benefit tour. In the video – Taras Stolyar (Honored Artist of Ukraine, intelligence officer of the 112th separate brigade of the Territorial Defense Forces) plays Nothing Else Matters on a 62-string bandura, a traditional Ukrainian folk instrument.
Metallica has supported Ukraine since the beginning of the massive war, showing its solidarity with the country’s defenders and people.
