Friends star and Oscar nominee Teri Garr has passed away at the age of 79 after a long battle with illness.
American actress, singer and dancer Teri Garr, known for her roles in the cult films and TV series Friends, died on Tuesday, October 29, at the age of 79. The news was confirmed by publicist Heidi Schaeffer, AP reports.
The actress passed away surrounded by family and friends after a long battle with multiple sclerosis, which was diagnosed in 2002.
Garr underwent surgery in 2007 for a brain aneurysm and, after treatment, regained his speech and motor skills. In recent years, his health condition has deteriorated significantly.
The actress began her career in 1963 with small roles, but soon became famous thanks to the films Tootsie, The Conversation, Mister Mom and Young Frankenstein. Garr received an Academy Award nomination for her role in the film, and Friends fans remember her as Phoebe Buffay’s mother.
It was previously reported that Paul Di’Anno, former vocalist of the cult band Iron Maiden, has died at the age of 66.
