Joyce Montserrat is the great promise for the visibility of transvestites and transgender women in Minas Gerais
The Minas Gerais city of Uberaba has the chance to advance LGBT+ rights and queer visibility with Joyce Montserrat’s pre-candidacy for city councilor. She is running for the PDT, the same party as fellow trans woman Duda Salabert, currently a federal deputy and running for mayor of Belo Horizonte (MG).
“After more than 23 years of fighting for my existence, I decided to launch my pre-candidacy for city councilor because I understand that we need to have a voice. Throughout this journey, I have faced challenges and achieved victories, always motivated by the desire to make a difference”, invites Joyce.
She also says that “my dedication to the community is a reflection of what I believe is possible: a better and fairer future for everyone. I want to listen to all voices so that together we can build a path of transformation and progress.” Her causes are LGBT+ rights, the defense of culture, quality public services, health, education, and employment and income.
Great promise for the visibility of transvestites and transgender women from Minas Gerais, she also says that “construction is essential for the LGBTIQIAPN+ community and all those who suffer some type of prejudice”.
