IOC spokesman says Khelif’s participation is not a transgender issue
IOC spokesman Mark Adams said all competitors at the Olympics, the most queer ever, met the eligibility rules. He stressed that the situation of Khelif and that of Lin Yu-ting, a Taiwanese boxer also involved in eligibility issues, was not related to gender.
Lin was stripped of third place at last year’s World Championships after failing a gender eligibility test, while Khelif was disqualified in New Delhi due to a testosterone level test.
“All competitors meet the eligibility rules,” Adams reiterated, clarifying that Khelif’s participation is completely legitimate under Olympic rules.
