During a visit to Paris, Britain’s King Charles III’s dinner will be one of the Elysee Palace’s biggest expenses for 2023, Politico reports.
The costs of the Elysee Palace, which include diplomatic and presidential functions, administration, personnel, security and property management, amounted to 125 million euros, resulting in a budget deficit of 8.3 million euros.
The biggest expense was the reception dinners for British King Charles III and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
About 160 guests were invited to a banquet to mark the visit of Charles III, held at Versailles, the historic residence of the French monarchs. This gourmet dinner, which included delicacies such as lobster and exclusive wines, cost the Elysee Palace almost 475 thousand euros, of which more than 165 thousand euros were spent on catering and more than 40 thousand euros on wine.
A separate item that led to major losses was canceled due to changes in travel plans. So, almost 830 thousand euros were spent.
It was previously reported that the Duke of Sussex said his decision to fight the British tabloids was the main reason for the breakdown in relations with the royal family.
