The conference brought together representatives from civil society, government and various institutions, marking a historic moment in the fight for the rights of the LGBTQIA+ community. The event emphasized the importance of respecting the use of trans people’s social names and their dignity, regardless of sexual orientation and gender identity.
SEASDH Deputy Secretary Amanda Vasconcelos paid tribute to the department’s technicians, highlighting their commitment to promoting policies for the LGBTQIA+ community. “One of the things that made me happiest about being part of SEASDH is the movement of technicians who work on rights reviews,” she said.
Nilcéia Santos, Human Rights representative, highlighted the significant progress made by the department through its rights defense policies. “Through this policy, we have made significant contributions and faced many challenges. Fortunately, we are making progress. We have been able to affirm that human rights are for everyone: for black people, the elderly, for everyone. It encompasses everyone. We currently have 14 human rights policies, and these policies are cross-cutting,” she explained.
The conference was attended by people from several municipalities, such as Rio Branco, Acrelândia, Bujari, Senador Guiomard, Sena Madureira, Porto Acre, Plácido de Castro, Capixaba and Manoel Urbano. The central theme was “Building the Regional Policy for the Rights of LGBTQIA+ People”.
