Warner Bros. Reveals Trailer for Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga’s ‘Joker’
The new Harley Quinn, played by Gaga, has a different look than the one Margot Robbie sported in “Suicide Squad” and “Birds of Prey.” In this version, Harley Quinn is an inmate at Arkham psychiatric hospital, where Arthur Fleck (Phoenix) is also housed.
While the reasons for her hospitalization are unknown, it is clear that she harbors a deep admiration for Fleck, a failed comedian who gained notoriety after committing murders and starting a movement against Gotham’s elite. The trailer suggests that this admiration will turn into an overwhelming passion, driving Harley Quinn to madness.
With at least 15 confirmed covers, it’s been speculated that musical sequences will be an integral part of “Joker: Delirium for Two”, especially when it comes to the romance between the protagonists. Promotional materials for the film have already made references to classics such as Jacques Demy’s “The Umbrellas of Cherbourg”, suggesting a musical tone for the sequel.
In addition to Gaga and Phoenix, the film’s cast includes Zazie Beetz, who reprises her role from the first film, Brendan Gleeson, Catherine Keener and Ken Leung. The sequel is once again written and directed by Todd Phillips and is scheduled to premiere in Brazilian theaters on October 3.
