With the theme “Parada 25 anos: Celebrating the Achievements, Reaffirming the Struggle!”, this year’s route recalls the first edition in 1998, conceived by Soraya Menezes, with a gathering at Praça Sete and a walk along Afonso Pena. “When we decided on the theme, our goal was to celebrate the 25 years of the Parada, remembering that it is not an event, but a popular demonstration in search of rights and citizenship,” says Maicon Chaves, president of Cellos-MG. “We must remember that the rights achieved were the result of much struggle and mobilization. Continuing the fight is essential to guarantee our rights.”
One of the new features this year is the live broadcast on the internet. The artists’ performances, from 12pm to 5pm, will also be shown on large screens, making it easier for the public to follow along from any point on the streets.
One of the activist trios, considered the largest in the world, has accessibility and translation into Libras, a tradition of the BH Parade, which will be maintained and expanded for the activities of the LGBTQIA+ citizenship day. The procession will begin at 5 pm and will disperse at 10 pm at Praça Sete.
The 25th LGBTQIA+ Pride Parade in Belo Horizonte is co-organized by Cellos-MG and the City of Belo Horizonte (PBH), with sponsorship from the Bank Workers’ Union of Belo Horizonte and the region, AccorHotels and the Regional Council of Psychology. The event also has the support of state deputies Beatriz Cerqueira (PT), Bella Gonçalves (PSOL) and Lohanna França (PV).
