Janssem Cardoso’s project celebrates body diversity and freedom of expression at its third anniversary party
“I realized that I needed to photograph and democratize nudity in my project. With personal questions that arose, I realized the need to give space to all types of bodies. Over time, I understood that the more we expose what is different, the more accepted it becomes,” explains Janssem.
“Today I have more empathy for people precisely because of this. I began to understand how difficult and unhealthy it is to exclude those who don’t fit into a standard. Other Colours is about people and their essence, without the armor acquired during life. The clothes are a representation of what we are undressing, accepting and exposing, including traumas.”
The project is an attempt to show different bodies and nudity in a different way. “The idea came from my desire to photograph nudes, but from the beginning, I wanted to do it in a different way. Over time, I realized that I needed to include all types of bodies, and so the project found its way.”
