LGBTQIA+ couples break record for vow renewal in Seattle

56 couples celebrate Pride Month on special cruise presided over by Washington’s first gay judge

During Pride Month, LGBTQIA+ couples from across the US gathered in Seattle, Washington to set a new world record, with 56 couples renewing their vows on May 30.

The ceremony, held on the ‘Love For All Boat’ cruise ship, was presided over by Judge Mary Yu, Washington’s first openly gay judge. The event, organized by Visit Seattle, highlighted the city’s commitment to the LGBTQIA+ community and celebrated 50 years of Pride in Seattle.

In 2015, the U.S. Supreme Court legalized same-sex marriage nationwide. Since then, it has been a constitutional right. However, in 2022, deputies had to fight against the annulment of the 2015 decision – and they succeeded.
