“What if I wrote a song where I confessed all my biggest fears?”
Ravih is the sole composer of “Medo” and shares the track’s musical production with Arielly Porto. The singer cites influences from Rico Dalasam, MC Tha and Youún to create what he describes as “bittersweet pop”.
The song is accompanied by an animated music video, illustrated and directed by Pedro Borges, with a script by Ravih. “I discovered Pedro’s work listening to a podcast, I did some research and I loved his style. I thought it was perfect for the story I wanted to tell, in addition to identifying with him because he is also a young black and queer man”, comments the singer. In the clip, he embarks on a train journey, where he sees his future, including the death of his mother: “I was always scared to death of moving away from her, so I wrote the song and the script as an exercise to internalize the idea that the bond ancestor goes beyond the physical plane.”
In 2023, he concluded the cycle of his debut EP, “Distance” (2020), with a tour and music video in Europe, in addition to winning the Pretas Potências Prize and releasing “ Além do seu gate”, the first single from his album. This music video was filmed at the Municipal Theater of São Paulo. Now, he is preparing for the release of “Próprio”, his first album, scheduled for August. “‘Medo’ was the first one I wrote and recorded for the album, and although the lyrics mention insecurities, the message is about the importance of maintaining bonds and networks of trust”, concludes Ravih.
