Deputy must defend the legalization of LGBT+ marriage and the rejection of proposals that prohibit it
PL 580/07, initially presented by former deputy Clodovil Hernandes, proposes the possibility for two people of the same sex to formalize a same-sex union through a contract that regulates their property relations.
This project is being processed in conjunction with PL 5167/09, authored by former deputy Capitão Assumção, which aims to prevent relationships between people of the same sex from being recognized as marriage or a family entity.
At the Human Rights Commission, Erika Hilton must present an opinion contrary to that of Pastor Eurico, defending the legalization of same-sex marriage and the rejection of proposals that prohibit it.
Last year, the proposal was analyzed by the Social Security, Social Assistance, Childhood, Adolescence and Family Committee, under the rapporteur of deputy Pastor Eurico (PL-PE). The pastor approved a version of the text that could prohibit the recognition of civil marriage between people of the same sex, rejecting Clodovil’s text and supporting that of Captain Assumção, who suggests changing the Civil Code to include “people of the same sex” among the categories who “can’t get married”.
