The title “Anseio” was chosen by Dimitria to summarize the essence of the EP, where the artist strips away her ego and addresses themes experienced in relationships and reflections on life, anguish and absences. “Longing means the intense desire for something or someone, and there could be no word that better encompasses the feelings present in the four tracks I composed, culminating in my first solo EP”, explained Dimitria.
The creative process of this work began in 2022, based on a shared desire between Dimitria and Guilherme Assis to create something together. Marked by drum grooves and layers of voices, the EP highlights the guitar as the central instrument, with themes that stick in your head and highlight the striking personality of Dimitria’s compositions.
The EP also featured collaborations with other artists, such as Pedro Muniz, who co-produced the track “Lamento”, and Diogo Neves, who played guitar on the track “Falta”. “In ‘Falta’, the striking bass line in the middle of the song was created by Benke, during a casual meeting in 2022, when I was still developing the song and showed it to him and Diogo”, added Dimitria.
Regarding the musical production of “Anseio”, Dimitria commented that the process was very natural. “Guilherme understood very well the aesthetic I wanted in the songs. The first sound reference I showed him was the artist Nilufer Yanya, specifically the album ‘PAINLESS’. I spent three months listening to this album, which inspired me a lot,” she said.
With musical influences that include alternative rock bands such as Paramore, Kings Of Leon, Alabama Shakes, The Dead Weather, as well as genres such as R&B and contemporary jazz, Dimitria explains that it is difficult to fit his music into a single genre. “Everything has a hint of different styles together,” he concluded.
