SP’s Lesbian and Bisexual Walk keeps the flame of protest pure

Without having been swallowed by brands, Caminhada maintained the climate of struggle, strength and power of women in 2024

“For the End of Lesbocide and Biphobia. Justice for Carol and Luana” was the theme this year of the 22nd São Paulo Lesbian and Bisexual Walk, held in the capital of São Paulo on Saturday, June 1, leaving from Praça da República. For another year, the event proved to be the one that still keeps the flame of protest burning and pure.

Without having been swallowed by brands and commercial partnerships, Caminhada maintained in 2024 the climate of struggle, strength and power of women without lowering its head to the conditions of contracts with companies. It lined up powerful speeches from activists representing female diversity, which is PWD, black, indigenous, mother and much more.

One of the biggest LGBT+ icons today, federal deputy Erika Hilton gave a powerful speech about the need for all the letters of the acronym to come together and perform in unison. She also warned about the threat of radicalism that tries to keep trans women away from this movement (see above).

The soundtrack was made up of the beautiful and sonorous union of the drums of the carnival groups Maria Spataão, Siga Bem Caminhoneira and Siriricando, which also covered Avenida São Luiz, Largo do Paissandu and Largo do Arouche.
