After the success of “Stupid Wife”, Ponto Ação Produções invests in “Xeque Mate”, which tells the story of police chief Giovanna Torres and the enigmatic Maya Manoela Collins. In a short time, the series has already won over the public, totaling around 2.4 million views in three episodes. The new plot maintains the LGBT+ representation characteristic of the producer since its first projects.
In “Xeque Mate”, Giovanna is a dedicated police officer from Itaipava, determined to achieve career success in honor of her late mother, Clara. When she gets a job opportunity in Rio de Janeiro, she celebrates with friends in a bar and meets Maya, with whom she feels an immediate attraction.
In Rio, Giovanna takes on a major case of million-dollar theft at the Enterprise company and discovers that businessman Christopher Collins is married to Maya. Despite the ethical conflict, Giovanna allows herself to be carried away by her desire for Maya, allowing her feelings to grow more and more.
In the plot, Natalie plays Clarice, a dedicated and extremely competent Enterprise secretary, who has worked with Christopher for years and knows the company deeply. However, her efforts are threatened when she becomes involved in a dangerous romance.
Recorded in 2023, Natalie was initially just going to direct the project, but some changes made the team suggest that she play the character. “As she was a little smaller, it would be better to reconcile with the direction. She is super important to the story and I believe people will like it a lot. I gave everything I could. I found out the day before that I would play the character, but I believe I have it worked”, says Natalie.
Regarding the expectation for public feedback with each new episode, she states: “As I have already watched the episodes and liked absolutely everything, I now hope that the public also enjoys it as much as I do. I hope that it will be a gift for them. The cast is beautiful, the team worked tirelessly to deliver beautiful work, so I hope everyone welcomes it with open arms”, he concludes.
