In an intimate kitchen with a tense, almost silent atmosphere, Bicha Oca reviews the past, loves and issues
Rodolfo Lima never liked easy theater. He never approached comfortable topics. He never wanted to act cute to be accepted by the mainstream. Rodolfo Lima is one of the most disturbing names in Brazilian theater and makes an important creative movement outside the posters dominated by commercial names.
Rodolfo is back with his “Bicha Oca” for a season in São Paulo (SP) to the delight of those who like questions, for those who want to really feel in a play, for those who expect more than fame, they want acting. The new production will be on display in the capital of São Paulo until June 28th, also known as LGBT+ Pride Day.
It makes perfect sense, because Rodolfo has always been very proud of his work, and with good reason. To play Alceu, the Hollow Bicha, he received the baton from the hands of Marcelino Freire himself to take his writings to the stage. In fact, anywhere, at Casarão Belvedere, at Espaço Xtranho, in a friend’s studio apartment in the city center.
Rodolfo plays the real and disturbing Alceu, a queer who doesn’t shy away from being, very Rodolfo – who lends his body, his soul and his heart to Marcelino Freire’s written creation. In an intimate kitchen with a tense, almost silent atmosphere, Bicha Oca reviews the past, loves and issues. It puts an unforgiving mirror in front of gay people and their choices.
The new season also features Rafael Rudolf on the scene, as naked as Alceu. Rodolfo never really liked decorations, hiding places, he was always sincere, devoid of frills. It is through a trajectory like this that the strength of “Bicha Oca” has remained strong and relevant since its debut, in 2009 at Casarão do Belvedere.
