Comedian Julio Torres is back with “Fantasmas”

After writing, directing and starring in his first feature film, “Problemista”, comedian and actor Julio Torres is back – and released on Tuesday, the 28th, the first trailer for his new show, “Fantasmas”. It’s a six-episode HBO series that follows a fictionalized version of himself as he searches New York for a lost earring shaped like a small gold oyster.

“I’m Julio, I’m an Aquarius, I was struck by lightning as a child and now I see the world a little differently and I’m allergic to the color yellow,” says Torres as the trailer begins and he is sitting in a doctor’s office where he They said there are 90 seconds left until your appointment.

“I’ve been having this recurring dream where I’m in a room,” he says. “I can feel the inner life of shapes, colors, sounds and numbers. And then I wake up.”

Throughout his quest, Torres is helped by his “pseudo agent” played by artist Martine and a robot companion named Bibo (Joe Rumrill). He also encounters many strange characters on his journey through New York.

Of course, this is not the normal New York we are used to, but rather the surreal and fantastic one that exists through Torres’ eyes, full of robots, mermaids, strange places and even stranger characters. Ghosts premieres on Max on June 7th.
