Initiatives are national and include donations, mapping of victims and connection between aid and need
The National Association of Transvestites and Transsexuals (Antra) and the Brazilian Institute of Transmasculinities (Ibrat) are helping to raise funds and products such as water, food and hygiene materials for trans people affected by the catastrophe in Rio Grande do Sul.
“Thousands of people have lost everything and need urgent support. LGBT+ movements are mobilized and need our help to respond to this catastrophe. Go to the @antra.oficial and @ibratnacional profiles and find out how to help affected trans people”, ask the entities on social media.
Another initiative is by Rio Grande do Sul artivist Luka and maps trans people affected by the damage caused by heavy rain, but also maps LGBT+ people who can help. “In this moment of searching for life, of guaranteeing the minimum, avoiding situations of transphobia and seeing horizons is fundamental for the emotional health of the trans population affected”, says Luka.
She advises that “we created a pix so that we have support in this regard. The entire amount will be allocated and divided between the trans people who were affected (that we are aware of) and entities that provide this support to the T community, as well as purchasing items/food and guaranteeing their deliveries to the population that is most vulnerable. In addition to providing transfers if necessary!”
The Pix key is the emailajudatransrs@gmail.com.
