Deputies unanimously approved a project that prohibits the participation of children under 18 years of age
The Constitution and Justice Commission (CCJ) of the Legislative Assembly of Santa Catarina (Alesc) unanimously approved on the 30th the proposal that prohibits the participation of children and adolescents in parades related to the LGBT+ Pride Parade in the State. The proposal is from state deputy Ana Campagnolo (PL) and considers the LGBT+ Parade an “inappropriate environment” for children under 18 years of age.
If turned into law, the proposal provides for a fine in case of non-compliance with the prohibition: R$ 10 thousand per hour of undue exposure of the child or adolescent. The responsibility for ensuring compliance with the law will lie with the event organizers and their sponsors.
In addition to the fine, parents or guardians may also be notified by the Guardianship Council. The infraction notices will be issued by designated public agents, and will then be registered as active debt of the State. Executions arising from these infractions will be the responsibility of the State Attorney General’s Office.
On Thursday, May 2nd, a letter was sent from the Assembly to the State Government announcing the approval of the project at the CCJ.
