American writer and screenwriter Paul Auster died at his home in Brooklyn on Tuesday night. He is 77 years old. The New York Times reported it.
It was known that he had lung cancer. His diagnosis was first announced last year by his wife and co-author Siri Hustvedt.
Paul Auster is considered one of New York’s iconic writers. The publication called him “a patron of the Brooklyn literary scene.”
His writing career began to take off in 1982, when he published his memoirs, A Fabrication of Loneliness.
His three novels, City of Glass, The Haunting, and The Locked Room, form the New York Trilogy, which The New York Times included in its list of the 25 greatest New York novels of the past 100 years.
Paul Auster’s latest novel, 4 3 2 1, has been shortlisted for the Booker Prize.
It was previously reported that Aquarium and Cinema producer, rock musician Andrei Tropillo, died at the age of 74.
