The Revolutionary Court of Iran has sentenced famous Iranian rapper Toumaj Salehi to death on charges of supporting massive anti-government protests in the country in 2022-2023. It was reported by Reuters.

It was noted that the artist in his songs supported the months of protests in the country caused by the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini, who was arrested for allegedly wearing the hijab incorrectly.

The rapper was first arrested in October 2022 after making public statements in support of protests across the country. He was sentenced to six years and three months in prison in 2023, but escaped the Supreme Court’s death sentence.

Later, Toumaj Salehi’s lawyer Amir Raisian reported that the first branch of the Isfahan Revolutionary Court sentenced the rapper to death, despite the Supreme Court’s decision.

Iran’s judicial system has not yet confirmed the verdict. Salehi has 20 days to appeal.

It was previously reported that the former head of Yoozoo Games, Xu Yao, has been sentenced to death.
