The Hollywood star claims that Brad Pitt’s case is an example of his “attempts to control and consume him financially.”
Angelina Jolie has accused her ex-husband, 60-year-old Brad Pitt, of being “financially devastated” by the lengthy legal battle with the winery. The Daily Mail reported this.
Journalists conducted their own investigation to find out the validity of such accusations, and came to the conclusion that in the years after the divorce, his fortune grew rapidly. In particular, he enriched himself by almost $100 million.
The money came from loans, alimony, gifts, and millions he received from the sale of his 50 percent stake in the disputed Château Miraval estate, 10 percent of which was donated by Pitt.
Most of that $100 million came from Pitt’s account: In 2018, for example, he spent more than $1.3 million on child support, including therapy for his children, and paid hundreds of thousands of other another bill.
According to sources, Pitt has continued to pay these expenses for the past seven years, during which he is believed to have spent around $10 million on child support.
But Jolie benefited more from the sale of her stake in Miraval Winery. When Pitt and Jolie bought the property in 2008, it was worth $60 million, but now its price, “thanks to Pitt’s efforts and investments,” has risen to $164 million.
However, in court documents, Jolie’s side insisted on a different version: “It is very painful for Jolie to defend herself against this lawsuit – which is another example of Pitt’s constant efforts to control and consume her financially – especially since Pitt’s lies about the reasons for the failure of the Miraval agreement can only be proven “by doing exactly what Jolie does not want to do: explain to the judge why the agreement failed, thereby is in violation of the nondisclosure agreement Pitt insisted on to conceal his history of physical and emotional abuse from Jolie and their family.”
The court will soon rule on Jolie’s new claims against Pitt, but the final completion of the process is far from over.
It was previously reported that Brad Pitt won the battle for control of the French vineyard, which he owns with his ex-wife Angelina Jolie.
