Hutchins was shot and killed on the set of the western film Rust, which was shooting in October 2021.
Alec Baldwin’s trial for the murder of Ukrainian cameraman Galina Hutchins during the filming of Rust is scheduled for July 9. Variety reported.
It is known that on this day the selection of jurors will begin. Testimony will begin on July 10, and the trial itself will last eight days and end on July 19.
However, Baldwin’s lawyers, led by Alex Spiro, wanted the trial to begin a month earlier, on June 13, citing that the actor wanted the case to proceed quickly.
However, prosecutor Kari Morrissey denied this request. According to him, in June he will be busy with another process, so he asked for a date in July or August.
As a reminder, Baldwin is accused of firing a live bullet from a Colt .45 caliber revolver on October 21, 2021, while preparing to shoot a scene. As a result, Ukrainian cameraman Galina Hutchins died.
If convicted, Baldwin faces up to 18 months in prison.
It was previously reported that Baldwin was charged with manslaughter as prosecutors again tried to bring the actor to justice for the death of a Ukrainian camerawoman.
