Erika Hilton (PSOL-SP) made history! The federal deputy was unanimously elected to be the leader of the PSOL-REDE bench in the Chamber of Deputies.
Historic! The politician became the first trans person to assume this position in the Legislative House.
Erika’s election took place at the first meeting of the bench of PSOL and Rede Sustentabilidade deputies in 2024.
On her Instagram profile, Erika celebrated her achievement and revealed that she was proud of the milestone in the history of Brazilian politics.
“Very proud to have been unanimously appointed as the new leader of the PSOL-Rede bench in the Chamber.”, she wrote.
The deputy explained about the historic milestone:“For the first time in history, a trans woman will lead a bench in Congress and negotiate on an equal basis with all party leaders, in defense of the project elected in 2022 and on the basis of the Lula government.”
“I thank my party for its trust and my dear Guilherme Boulos for passing on this baton after his exemplary leadership in 2023, which made us very proud!”she concluded.
