Football player Daniel Alves was sentenced to 4 years and 6 months in prison for rape
Daniel Alves was sentenced to four years and six months in prison for rape.
The football player raped a woman in Barcelona, Spain. The decision to convict the athlete for sexual violence was announced this Thursday morning, the 22nd.
Daniel will also have to pay compensation of 150 thousand euros (approximately R$800 thousand at current prices) to the victim.
Before sentencing, the athlete spent a year in prison. This period will be deducted from the sentence.
After being released, the player must serve five years of supervised release and cannot come within one kilometer of the victim’s residence or work for nine years and six months.
“The court considers it proven that the accused roughly grabbed the complainant, threw her to the floor and, preventing her from moving, penetrated her vaginally, even though the complainant said no, that she wanted to leave”announced the Superior Court of Justice of Catalonia. “With this, the type of absence of consent, use of violence and carnal access is fulfilled”, made it official.
The player must serve his sentence in Spain, as the crime was committed in Spanish territory, but, if he wishes, he can go to court with a petition asking to be transferred to Brazil.
