On stage, the actress works hard to give life to seven women, who will have their stories connected through the Support Center for the Desperate, a reference to voluntary telephone services that exist to try to reverse situations that can lead to extreme measures.
The project tells the story of a CAD psychologist who does not show up for work and leaves the role in the hands of a woman, who was not prepared for the role, but manages the pains and delights of her own daily life with popular wisdom, and is the one who ends up helping the people on the other end of the line looking for help, advice, a shoulder or just someone to listen to them. With her “own psychology”, hilarious and impulsive, she takes on the mission of showing these women that life is worth living and that you can still be happy before next year.
Mariana confessed that the play can be considered one of the greatest moments of her career.
“A mix of excitement and fear: that’s what grips so many people on New Year’s Eve and also what I feel at this moment, facing my first solo show. ‘Before Next Year’ is already the biggest challenge of my career and proves that it is possible to create popular art with quality and sensitivity.”, he said.
She completed: “I believe in comedy as a tool not only for entertainment, but for criticism and reflection. I also believe in the transformative power of empathy and it is through it that we hope that the audience leaves the theater feeling light, refreshed and a little transformed too.”
