Rodrigo Simas opened up and revealed how he discovered he was a bisexual man. The actor did not hide any details of the process and said that he faced difficulties in understanding his sexual orientation.
During a conversation with Fernanda Paes Leme at the At the Pool with Fê Paes Leme, from GNT, the artist commented on the subject when talking about José Venâncio, his character in Renascer. In the plot, he plays a married man who falls in love with a trans woman during the second phase of the soap opera.
“It took me a while to understand that I was bi because I didn’t know that it was okay to be bi. It’s not sitting on the fence, you know? That it’s a sexual orientation and it’s okay”he said.
He continued:“It was a process for me, too. It was something I had, ten years ago, for example, of ‘I’m gay. Oh, no, I’m straight. Oh, I can’t be because of my profession, I won’t have more paper…’. I’m talking about 10, 12 years ago”.
“I’m just being. People also have this difficulty, that we live in a very hypocritical society, where people can’t be what they are. Simple! That’s the right thing, right, the religious, social place, which puts heteronormativity , of the family”, he spoke.
