The sexual assault complaint filed against Gerard Depardieu has been rejected by the French prosecutor’s office due to the statute of limitations.
Prosecutors rejected actress Hélène Darras’ complaint of sexual assault by French actor Gerard Depardieu. It is reported by different types.
In court papers, Darras said the 75-year-old screen star made sexual advances on her during the filming of the 2007 movie Disco. However, the press service of the Paris prosecutor’s office said that the claim, filed on September 10, 2023, will be rejected due to the expiration of the statute of limitations.
A spokesperson for the prosecutor’s office said that Hélène decided to file a separate complaint after being questioned as a witness in the investigation of the Charlotte Arnoux case in 2018. In connection with this case, Depardieu was charged with rape in 2020.
Darras was found to be one of 13 women who accused Depardieu of sexual harassment in a journalistic investigation published in Mediapart in April 2023.
Spanish journalist Ruth Baza also said she filed a formal complaint against the actor in Spain after allegedly assaulting him during an interview in Paris in 1995, outside France’s 20-year statute of limitations.
In turn, Depardieu has been found not guilty of any of the charges and has denied any wrongdoing.
It was previously reported that French President Emmanuel Macron has come to the defense of actor Gerard Depardieu, who has been accused of sexual assault.
