The 1963 Spider-Man comic sold for nearly $1.5 million

The public first saw him in the August issue of the Amazing Fantasy anthology series published by Marvel in 1962.

A historic comic from 1963, one of two copies of Amazing Spider-Man #1 sold at Heritage Auctions for $1.38 million. The condition of the magazine is described as nearly flawless. The Guardian writes about it.

“It’s clear that this Spider-Man is an unprecedented opportunity, and the final price of the lot proves that,” said Barry Sandoval, vice president of the auction company.

Peter Parker’s alter ego, Spider-Man, was created by artist Steve Ditko and writer Stan Lee.

Following this, the Amazing Spider-Man series was launched. From then until 2022, over 900 issues of the comic have been published.

To recap, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse won Best Animated Feature Film. Anatomy of a Fall was awarded Best International Film.
