They are currently only available in purple, but more shades will be available in the future.
New York tattoo parlor Bang Bang has invented the world’s first ink that can be easily removed from the skin. They disappear and reappear when exposed to special waves of ultraviolet light. Highsnobiety reported it.
“The latest innovation in the tattoo industry sounds straight out of a science fiction novel. Think: tattoos that can be turned on, off and reworked at will. It’s an amazing concept, thank you to tattoo artist Keith Bang Bang McCurdy, has become a reality,” the publication wrote.
The fact is that the composition of the paint is sensitive to ultraviolet radiation. Therefore, the tattoo can be removed with a simple flashlight.
To create the ink, McCurdy contacted Carson Bruns, an assistant professor of mechanical engineering at the ATLAS Institute at the University of Colorado Boulder. The latter has been experimenting with UV-reactive tattoo inks since 2018.
Bruns recently developed an ink that reacts to sunlight to be used to prevent skin cancer.
McCurdy saw artistic potential in him.
“Instead of giving people the ability to see UV, we can give people control over their self-expression,” said the artist.
In August, they founded HYPRSKN, a biotech company specializing in smart tattoo inks. Magic Ink, an ink that “turns on and off,” is its first product.
“The magic ingredient is a photochromic particle. If you give it the right length of ultraviolet light, these ‘doors’ open and you see its color. If you give it white light, you close the ‘doors’ ‘ this. and you won’t see its color. Your Magic Ink tattoo design can also be customized. Imagine we tattooed a solid circle on your wrist, a solid Magic Ink dot. Inside that dot , you can choose which parts are activated,” McCurdy said.

We remind you that an Irish woman lost her sight after getting a tattoo on her eyeballs. Mother of five Anaya Peterson, against her daughter’s advice, dyed her eyeballs bright blue and purple.
