King Charles III will be taken to hospital next week due to an enlarged prostate gland. Therefore, His Majesty’s public appearance will be postponed for the time being. Hello reported this in relation to Buckingham Palace.
“His Majesty’s condition is benign and he will visit the hospital next week for a corrective procedure. The King’s public appearances will be postponed for a short period of recovery,” the statement said.
According to the publication, the 75-year-old monarch wanted to share details of his diagnosis to encourage other men who may be experiencing similar symptoms to get tested in accordance with public health recommendations.
The UK’s National Health Service reports that benign prostate enlargement is common in men over 50. It is usually not a serious condition.
It is understood the king had a number of meetings and events planned for Thursday and Friday at Dumfries House in East Ayrshire, which have now been postponed on medical advice.
Charles was last seen in public on January 14, when he attended a church service with Queen Camilla at Crete Kirk, near the Balmoral estate.
