In a situation where Western aid is drying up, France is introducing a war economy regime. Ukraine is also investing its resources – it has already purchased six Caesars with its own funds to start the initiative. French Defense Minister Sebastian Lecornu stated this in an interview with Le Parisien.
The French minister also announced the head of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense, Rustem Umerov. Today, January 18, they will visit the Nexter plant in Bourges, where they produce Caesar self-propelled guns.
According to Le Parisien, the Caesar self-propelled artillery mount is “the flagship of French artillery.” This self-propelled gun has a caliber of 155 mm and is capable of firing at a distance of up to 42 km. At the same time, it fires about six shots per minute.
In addition, non-contact detonators for the Caesar make it possible to detonate shells in the air, upon contact with a target or any surface. The self-propelled gun can reach speeds of up to 80 km/h on paved roads and 50 km/h off-road.
Let us remind you that on January 17, Germany announced the transfer of a new package of military assistance to Ukraine. It included ammunition for Leopard 1A5 tanks, 25 RQ-35 Heidrun reconnaissance drones, eight armored personnel carriers, 16 Mercedes-Benz Zetros tankers and five vehicles for border guards.
