The new official portrait of King Charles III, created to be displayed in public buildings across the UK, has sparked public outrage. The Guardian reported this.
In particular, last year the Cabinet Office announced it had allocated funds to offer every public body – local councils, courts, schools, police, fire and rescue services – a free portrait of King Charles .
The government appropriated eight million pounds for these purposes, which caused outrage; the British called this initiative a “shameful waste of money.”
It is known that the photo was taken at Windsor Castle last year by photographer Hugo Bernand. His Majesty is depicted in the uniform of an Admiral of the Royal Navy with official medals and decorations.
Many government agencies have displayed official portraits of Queen Elizabeth II, and “offering a new official portrait of King Charles III will enable organizations across the UK to continue this tradition,” said Cabinet Office.
