It was a time of persecution of Christians, but Sylvester was not afraid and accepted the holy confessor Bishop Timothy, and after his martyrdom he buried him. For this, Sylvester was captured and tried, and then thrown into prison. He was released from prison only after the death of the pagan mayor.
When Sylvester was 30 years old, he became a priest, and 15 years later he was elected bishop of Rome. Pope Sylvester led the Roman Church for more than 20 years. He died at a very old age.
