He was summoned for questioning at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, December 12, after which investigators decided to take him into custody.
Police said charges against him were filed by an unnamed woman last summer. According to her, she met the writer in a hotel room, where they had sex against her will.
Beigbeder spent some time in police custody and was released that evening. Pau City Prosecutor Rodolphe Jarry said that the writer “denies the facts” of which he is accused and that the preliminary investigation will continue at this stage, “especially to carry out some actions requested by Beigbeder’s lawyer.”
It was previously reported that actor Jamie Foxx was accused of rape, which, according to the victim, took place eight years ago.
