A class-action lawsuit was filed against the company, alleging that Disney paid 9,000 women less than their male counterparts in similar positions.

The company’s attorney, Felicia Davis, said that just because two workers are from the same job family and level doesn’t mean their work is “substantially similar.” He recited a long list of job titles – music producers, pastry chefs, nurses, architects, attraction engineers, visual effects directors, film handlers, Star Wars social media managers – to argue that the class was too diverse to get happy decision.
“It’s different segments, different business areas, in different areas,” he said. “They report to different managers. They work in completely different industries that pay differently.”
