The celebrity explained that he agreed to the fine because he did not want to participate in judicial red tape, adding that he did not consider himself guilty.

Singer Shakira entered into an agreement to avoid a trial in Barcelona on charges of not paying €14.5 million in taxes between 2012 and 2014. Reuters reported this.

In particular, during the trial, which lasted only five minutes, the star agreed to charges and fines of half the amount owed – more than 7.3 million euros.

He also agreed to an additional fine of 438 thousand euros to avoid three years in prison.

“I felt ready to go to trial and defend my innocence. My lawyers were confident that we would win the case. However, after many years of struggle, I made this decision. I had two options: continue to fight until the end, mortgaging my peace of mind and tranquility my children, stop making songs, albums and tours without being able to enjoy my career, what I want, or make a deal, close and leave this part of my life, look to the future. It’s not a victory to win if it costs so many years of your life stolen from you,” Shakira said in a statement.

Earlier it was reported that Spanish prosecutors have again accused Colombian singer Shakira of tax evasion.

Shakira received two Grammy statuettes for her song about Gerard Pique’s betrayal
